Introduction to Goalie Streamer
A bit about this new fantasy hockey blog...
Welcome to Goalie Streamer, a blog about fantasy hockey.
To give some context, I'm relatively new to fantasy hockey, as this is my third year of playing. I have been a longtime fantasy baseball player who has dabbled in fantasy football and basketball. Fantasy baseball is my first love, mostly because baseball is my favorite sport. I write about fantasy baseball during the season at Pitcher List and I write about the Kansas City Royals, my hometown team, at The Royals Reporter.
Thus, I like writing and diving into the analytical end of sports, especially fantasy sports. Hockey, in my opinion, is one of the most analytical sports out there, up with baseball. That's why I have gotten so into fantasy hockey because it's a conduit to analyze hockey, apply that analysis into fantasy competition, and then reflect on whether or not those takeaways produced results.
I am not sure what the format of this blog will be or the specific focus beyond "fantasy hockey analysis". I will say that I want this blog to be more about just "pick up these goalies" or "these guys are hot, and these ones are not." I do want this blog to be more about the numbers and analytics in relation to fantasy hockey. However, I want this blog to also come from a "fan's" perspective. I am not trying to be Dobber or Left Wing Lock. I am simply a NHL fan and fantasy hockey player who wants to better understand the game and be better as a player.
With sports gambling legal in Kansas, where I reside, I do want to dive into some Daily Fantasy hockey analysis. I am not as comfortable with the pure sports gambling end (i.e. picking winners and props and such) but we're in the early stages of this blog, so who knows.
In terms of myself personally, I am educator based here in Kansas City but grew up in Northern California. As I shared before, I am primarily a baseball fan and focus on baseball blogging, primarily of the sabermetric variety, especially in relation to my favorite team, the Kansas City Royals (I am also a season ticket member). However, the San Jose Sharks are one of my favorite pro sports team and I follow them along with the Sacramento Kings of the NBA and the Gonzaga Bulldogs of college basketball (Gonzaga is my alma mater). Even though I'm technically in " St. Louis Blues" country, my fandom is squarely with the teal. My bias as a Sharks fan may come through from time to time on this blog, but I'll do my best to check it.
Anyways, thanks for reading and finding this site and following along. I hope that this is a place that I can invest some thoughts in when baseball season is not in session. Feel free to comment and also follow along via Twitter (not X, it's always Twitter to me).
As they say in fantasy hockey, "let's do that fantasy hockey."
